Mission Statement

The Greenwoods Academy, guided by the pedagogical philosophy of an “integrative education,” inspires the development of the whole child from infancy to adolescence. We provide a holistic Montessori based curriculum that is appropriate to a child’s developmental stages; nurturing the mind, body, emotions and spirit, while providing a safe and supportive environment.
The child’s school experience is more fully integrated by the participation of parents and family; thereby, creating a school community committed to the education of their children. Parent participation in educational workshops, school events and parent-teacher interviews allows for the school and home to work closely together ensuring a combined effort in supporting the educational journey of each child.
The school strives to be both progressive and constant, fostering respect and responsibility to self, to others and to the earth. The Greenwoods Academy believes that education is a joyful, lifelong experience that is meant to be explored, observed and discovered by the child.

Environmental Policy

The Greenwoods Academy ensures a green-friendly environment both indoors and out of doors. The use of toxic-free cleaning, science and art supplies. Pesticide-free outdoor maintenance of playground and surrounding areas. Naturalization of school grounds is an innovative and holistic approach to environmental education for children, promoting environmental stewardship and sustainability. Recycling and composting are inherent practices that allow for direct hands-on participation within each classroom.

Global Awareness

The Greenwoods Academy believes that the world truly is a village. In teaching our children to be citizens of the world, we teach them to respond compassionately and empathetically to helping their fellow man. The children at the school participate in many multi-cultural activities that promote diversity and tolerance. Each year the classroom teacher will prepare a fundraising activity which allows the children to actively engage in giving humanitarian assistance. It is our conviction that we think and act both globally and locally. No matter how small the effort, children of all ages need to know that they can make a difference
